I’ve worked with D365 F&O since the initial launch of AX7 in early 2016 and my first D365 F&O role was as a Business Process Owner (BPO) for a client-side implementation. At the time, I worked a large, private-equity owned services provider in the maritime sector, called V.Ships. We had begun our ERP implementation journey in 2015 with D365 NAV (aka D365 Business Central), before we realised we needed the much deeper feature set offered by D365 F&O.

Having left an 8-year career as a Warfare Officer in the Royal Navy in 2010, I’d been working in various sales, training, and project management roles in the maritime industry, which gave me a broad exposure to processes, systems, and people in the corporate sphere.

I wanted to learn more about other industries, so I decided to use my new found interest and knowledge of D365 F&O as a conduit. At the start of 2019, I jumped ship to KPMG UK, one of the Big 4 global accounting firms, joining their Microsoft Business Solutions consultancy team. It was here that I first met Paul Sinnott.

I initially joined as a Functional Consultant, to allow me to prove myself with the platform partner-side. Drawing on my range of soft skills, involving myself in the full Microsoft stack, and proving myself in delivery on some challenging engagements, I was quickly promoted through Senior and Lead Consultant positions.

I went on to spend a year in an exciting role with KPMG International as a Platform Architect, supporting member firms across EMEA and ASPAC to build their practices, and to sell and deliver engagements across the Microsoft product set.

I moved back into the KPMG UK team in late 2022 as a Pre-Sales Solution Architect. In the intervening time, I’d kept in touch with Paul, and he introduced me to Jason Newbatt at the Scottish Summit that year. Together, they persuaded me to join Node4 in 2023, where I spent close to a year working as the Account Director for D365 F&O, supporting account managers and delivery teams across all D365 F&O opportunities and projects, for business of all sizes, in a variety of sectors.

I’m now on an exciting new journey as a small business owner and contractor, under the brand, EntityShift. I love working with clients from the earliest stages of their F&O journey, giving them confidence as to how the platform can deliver, and ensuring they know what to expect, how to prepare, and how to achieve success, drawing on my personal client-side and delivery experience.

In my spare time, I enjoy clay pigeon shooting, curling (on ice, not hair), gardening, dabbling with Home Assistant, and spending time with my wife and two sons, either building LEGO, playing on one of the Xboxes in the house (because, Microsoft!), or out on the hills and glens of Western Scotland that I call home.
